Biology is the study of life in all its complexity. Delivered in our state-of-the-art Science Centre, this Biological Science degree explores how life processes arise from intricate interactions at the molecular, cellular, and organism levels.
Students will gain practical laboratory experience alongside a strong theoretical foundation, developing the analytical and problem-solving skills that employers value. The course covers topics ranging from molecular biology and cellular systems to ecosystems and biodiversity, providing the tools to interpret and evaluate biological data with confidence.
Academic Requirements
In addition to the University’s standard entry requirements, applicants are expected to have:
A minimum of grades CCC at A level, or at least 96 UCAS points from an equivalent Level 3 qualification (e.g. BTEC National, OCR Diploma, or Advanced Diploma).
GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grade C/grade 4 or above (or equivalent).
Applicants with relevant qualifications or prior learning may be considered for advanced entry, which is available only for September intake. For further details, please see our guidance on advanced entry or contact courseenquiries@londonmet.ac.uk.
Please note: Up to nine professional examination exemptions may be available upon successful completion of specific modules. It is the student’s responsibility to complete the required modules to qualify for exemptions. The University cannot guarantee exemptions where the full three-year programme has not been undertaken.
English Language Requirements
All applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English. Students requiring a Student visa (formerly Tier 4) may need to provide results from a Secure English Language Test (SELT) such as IELTS Academic, in line with the University’s standard entry criteria.
For those wishing to improve their English prior to enrolment, the University offers a Pre-sessional Academic English course, designed to build confidence and ensure the required level of proficiency is achieved.
Graduates of this programme have pursued rewarding careers as researchers, science technicians, and medical laboratory assistants, with employers including Health Services Laboratory, Imperial College Healthcare, and The Scientists Laboratory.
The course also provides an excellent foundation for further academic study, offering progression to postgraduate degrees (MSc or PhD) at London Met or other leading universities and research institutes.
