This qualification is designed for commercial cooks who assume supervisory or team leadership responsibilities within kitchen environments. These individuals work autonomously or with minimal supervision, applying discretion and problem-solving skills to manage non-routine challenges effectively.
Graduates are equipped to pursue careers as commercial cooks across diverse hospitality settings, including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafés, cafeterias, and coffee shops.
KCBT learners progressing from SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (Successfully completed the 25 units) will need to complete the following 8 units in this course.
Academic Qualifications
Completion of Year 11 or an equivalent qualification.
Successful completion of the KCBT SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
Minimum Age
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrolment.
English Language Proficiency
Applicants are required to demonstrate English proficiency with a minimum overall score of IELTS 5.0, PTE 36, or an equivalent internationally recognised test score. Alternatively, proficiency may be demonstrated via the KCBT English Placement Test.
Commercial Cookery Package – 2 Years
Commercial Cookery Package – 1.5 Years
This qualification equips graduates to work as commercial cooks in a variety of kitchen environments, including restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafés, cafeterias, and coffee shops.
This course does not include additional work-based training. However, practical experience gained through the SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, specifically the unit SITHCCC020 – Work Effectively as a Cook, will be recognised and credited towards this qualification.
