This qualification reflects the role of experienced professionals working as senior civil works designers or para-professional designers who provide critical support to civil engineers. These individuals are responsible for undertaking broad, specialised, and complex tasks, often within strategic and technical domains.
Graduates will possess the expertise to design and manage complex civil construction projects that align with client and regulatory requirements. They demonstrate a high level of autonomy and apply advanced theoretical and technical knowledge to develop innovative solutions to engineering and project management challenges.
The following 12 units of competency are to be completed to attain this qualification:
Academic Requirements
Applicants must have successfully completed Year 12 or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum Age Requirement
Students must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
English Language Proficiency
International applicants are required to demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following:
A minimum IELTS score of 5.5, or
A PTE Academic score of 42 or above, or
Equivalent English language test results, or
Successful completion of the KCBT English Placement Test.
Graduates of this qualification may pursue roles across the civil construction and design sectors, including but not limited to:
Civil Construction Supervisor
Civil Design Draftsperson
Senior Civil Works Designer
These roles involve overseeing design implementation, preparing detailed technical drawings, and managing complex civil works projects in collaboration with engineers and project teams.
