The Diploma of Creative Arts (Acting) at JMC Academy comprises the initial two trimesters of the Bachelor degree program, offering a structured exit point for students seeking to build foundational acting skills as a pathway to further education or entry into the performing arts industry.
This program is designed to reflect the dynamic nature of today’s contemporary performing arts landscape, which includes opportunities in community theatre, fringe productions, film and digital media, and self-devised performance projects. Fringe, community, and cooperative theatre models represent a growing segment of the live performance industry, supported by the increasing number of smaller, versatile performance venues that accommodate diverse and small-scale productions.
In parallel, new and emerging technologies have significantly lowered the barriers to entry for film and digital content creation, while online platforms have revolutionized how audiences discover and engage with performances.
Throughout the course, students will:
Develop foundational skills in acting and performance
Learn to create and collaborate on original performance concepts
Gain the necessary academic framework to pursue further study
Build confidence in applying core acting techniques in live and recorded settings
