Admission Requirements

To gain entry into the Bachelor of Music Performance, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Minimum Age

• Applicants must be at least 17 years of age at the time of application.

Academic Entry Requirements

Applicants must satisfy one of the following academic pathways:

• Completion of Year 12 in the Australian school system, OR

• Equivalent qualification with a Senior Secondary Certificate pass in General English, OR

• Completion of a recognised qualification:

  • Certificate IV (or higher) – for Bachelor degree applicants

  • Certificate III (or higher) – for Diploma course applicants

• Mature Age Entry: Applicants aged 21 years or older may be considered without meeting the above academic criteria.

English Language Proficiency

International applicants (or domestic applicants with qualifications from non-English-speaking countries) must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following:

The Bachelor of Music Performance prepares you for a diverse and dynamic career in today’s music industry by developing your artistry, technical skills, industry knowledge, and creative networks.

Through weekly one-on-one tuition with leading performers and educators, you will refine your performance technique, musicality, and creative expression. Your studies culminate in a major final project—which may include recorded performance elements and a live recital—demonstrating your readiness for the professional stage.

You’ll gain hands-on experience writing and performing music for apps, games, film soundtracks, and multimedia projects, often in collaboration with students from other creative disciplines. This collaborative approach mirrors real-world industry practice and fosters a network of future professionals across the creative industries.

In addition to your performance training, you will learn to navigate the business of music, identify professional pathways, and market yourself as a working artist. The program covers key areas such as:

• Live and studio performance

• Recording and mixing techniques

• Ensemble arranging and production

• Multi-platform performance and presentation skills

• Music repertoire and stylistic development

By graduation, you'll have developed the practical experience, portfolio, and industry insight to pursue a wide range of roles, including but not limited to:

• Performing Artist

• Session Musician

• Composer/Arranger

• Live Sound Engineer

• Music Director

• Music Producer

• Film, Game, or Media Composer

• Music Educator (with further qualifications)

This degree provides the foundation to launch a career as an independent artist or work across a broad spectrum of industries—from live performance and recording to digital content creation and collaborative media.
