The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) of Purbanchal University is a four years academic program. Theaimof this program is to prepare competent professional nurses in education, administration andservice in respective level of health programsincluding problem identification, planning, implementing, and evaluation. BSN graduates can serve in various types of positions at national, federal, provincial and local level, for example, governmental or non-governmental health agencies, hospitals, communities, schools, campuses, and institutions.Besides, this they can work with special responsibilities; working directly with local communities and individuals, working primarily with schoolteachers and administration to provide health education and service, and preparing health workers in nursing fields.In general, BSc nursing graduates should be able to carry out the responsibilities a nursing care provider or middle level health care manager, faculty member and basic level researcher.
Qualification
Candidate must have completed Intermediate Scienceor 10+2 with biology will be eligible and equivalent to 50%or C+ in aggregate or “A-Level” with biology will be eligible and equivalent as per National Examination Board, Nepal.
Objectives of the BSN Program
The general objective of the B.Sc. nursing program is to produce competent graduates with basic and advanced knowledge and practical skills necessary to deliver high-quality health services needed for the country. Specifically, the program entails the following general objectives:
Provide basic and advanced knowledge and practical skills in nursing care including Primary Health Care.
Develop skills in health system research and management; problem identification, study design, data collection, analysis,prepares report, dissemination of the resultand evaluation for applicability in nursing service/practice.
Equip nursing professionals with communication and group organization skills for promoting community participation in health and development activities ultimately leading to the individual and community self-reliance in health services and improvement in health status.
Enable nursing health professionals to deal with the existing realities in health management issues, concerns, and problems.
Foster positive attitudes of health professionals to encourage them for providing more accessible, equitable nursing services for disadvantaged groups and communities.
Develop the leadership capabilities of nursing professionals in the management of nursing services at various levels’ health programs.
Enhance the vocational competence of nursing professionals through advanced education in health strategies, health promotion, and health programming.
Prepare professionals to be creative innovative in the preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative aspects of care according to scientific advancement and the trend of the day.
Enhance competence in teaching the learning process as a self-directed learner.
Entrance Examination:
There will be entrance examination of one paper (English -25 marks, Physics, chemistry, biology-50 and General Knowledge in health science-25 marks) conducted by Purbanchal University. The question will be multiple choices. Duration of examination will be 2 hours. Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks to pass entrance examination. Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit list.
Admission Criteria:
Candidates must have completed an Intermediate Science certificate or 10+2 (Biology)with 50% marks or Grade C+ in aggregate or A-Level (Biology) as per National Examination Board, Nepal.
Must pass the Entrance Examination conducted by Purbanchal University with at least 50% marks.
Must have completed 17 years of age
Physically and mentally fit(Medical fitness certificate at the time of admission).
